A reproduction of the typical Wehrmacht soldier’s payday banknotes used during World War II. Soldiers did not receive civilian currency but rather Verrechnungsscheine, internal payment notes valid in military facilities, shops, or to be sent home.
This set corresponds to the monthly payment of a Soldat / Gefreiter and includes:
- 2× 10 Reichsmark
- 2× 5 Reichsmark
- 5× 1 Reichsmark
Wehrmacht Pay Scale:
- A regular soldier (Soldat or Gefreiter) received 35 RM monthly (Wehrsold)
- Enough to cover daily expenses such as toiletries, postage, cigarettes or beer
Historical prices during WWII:
- Bread (1 kg) – 35 Pfennig
- Beer in a pub – 25 Pfennig
- Cigarettes (12-pack) – 3.33 RM
- Razor blade – 2.5 RM
- Daily newspaper – 20 Pfennig
An excellent item for completing a field post display, soldier’s personal belongings, or historical reenactment scenes.
