Toothpicks

A reproduction of wartime toothpick packaging, based on original designs from brands like “Dento” and “Zahnstocher” used during World War II. The packages are made of period-style paper with waterproof printing, and sold as collectible or display replicas.

Toothpicks were part of a soldier’s personal hygiene kit, available in military canteens, field hospitals, or as part of hygiene supply kits. They were easy to carry in pouches, pockets, or toiletry bags, and their regular use was encouraged to help prevent dental problems.

The packaging often included slogans like “Protect your teeth from disease” or “Use regularly”, promoting oral hygiene among troops. The Dento brand even emphasized that its toothpicks were “machine-made” and “hygienically packed” – highlighting their modern appeal for the time.

Today, this item is a simple yet highly authentic addition to any reenactment or historical toiletry display.
