A reproduction of German baking powder JUPO in period-accurate packaging from the 1930s and 1940s. The packaging, featuring a lion and bold Gothic lettering, reflects the style of civilian food products used during the Third Reich era.
Baking powder was an essential ingredient in military kitchens, field bakeries, and among the civilian population in the rear. Although not carried by individual soldiers, it was included in supply units (Verpflegungstruppen) and used by army cooks to prepare bread, pastries, and simple baked goods in the field.
The package is labeled for use with 500 grams of flour, matching the standard home-baking quantity of the time. The inscription “Das gute Backhilfsmittel” (“The good baking aid”) highlights its multipurpose use.
