Daily knäckebrot set

Replica of the original German Knäckebrot packaging with the standard weight of 125 grams per unit.

This set includes three packs – two represent the soldier’s daily front-line bread ration, while the third serves as the so-called Eiserne Portion (iron ration), kept in the soldier’s backpack or breadbag for emergencies.

Wehrmacht food regulations allowed for 250–375 g of Knäckebrot per day when fresh bread was unavailable, making two to three 125 g packs the historically accurate amount. Knäckebrot was highly resistant to moisture and mold, making it an ideal long-lasting food for field campaigns.

The packaging is recreated with period-correct labeling from Batscheider Knäckebrotfabrik, Munich 1942.
