Replica of the Esbit solid fuel package, one of the most practical tools carried by German soldiers during the Second World War. The fuel was supplied in tablet form and, when combined with a folding metal stove, offered a simple and silent way to heat food, water, or coffee in the field.
Esbit tablets burned without smoke or odor, making them ideal for use in combat zones without revealing the soldier’s position. Thanks to their compact size, the tablets could be stored directly inside the stove, which easily fit into a rucksack, tornister, or uniform pocket. A hot drink or warm meal, prepared quietly and discreetly, often made a vital difference in morale.
The Esbit brand was founded in Germany in 1936, when Erich Schumm patented the “Erich Schumm Brennstoff in Tablettenform” – solid fuel in tablet form. By the end of the war, it had become a standard item not only among soldiers but also within the civilian population. Production continued after the war, and to this day, the name Esbit is synonymous with compact stoves and emergency fuel.
This reproduction closely follows the wartime design of the original Wehrmacht-issued box. It is intended for display use or can be filled with modern tablets for reenactment. Perfect for completing a historical camp setup, museum exhibit, or as an accurate prop for film and photography.
