Vanillin sugar

A reproduction of vintage Dr. Oetker Vanillin-Zucker packaging, based on original designs from the 1930s–1940s. Each sachet contains 8 grams of flavored sugar, which was the standard amount used to sweeten baked goods, custards, or porridges.

Vanillin sugar was a popular ingredient in both civilian and military kitchens. In rear-area Wehrmacht kitchens and supply depots, it was primarily used to prepare desserts, sweet porridge, and pastries—especially during holidays or special occasions. While not part of the official iron ration, it could be found in comfort parcels from home or as part of special field kitchen supplies.

The label “5 Pfg” indicates its original retail price in Reichspfennig. Real vanilla was often replaced with synthetic vanillin, which was still highly appreciated for its sweet aroma and taste. A great addition to reenactor kitchens, historical food displays, or as a detailed prop for period films.
