Replica of an ammunition box for the Sturmgewehr 44 (StG 44), the assault rifle introduced into Wehrmacht service in the final years of World War II. This carefully crafted cardboard box with historically accurate labeling was designed for the 7.92×33 mm Kurz cartridges.
The box holds 15 rounds of Pistolenpatronen 43 – intermediate cartridges developed to combine the range of rifle rounds with the controllability of pistol ammunition. Specifically created for use in semi-automatic and fully automatic fire, this type of ammo marked a turning point in modern infantry weapon design.
The StG 44 is considered the world’s first true assault rifle. It emerged from the need for a more versatile firearm suited to mid-range combat and represented a major shift in German infantry tactics. Ammunition boxes for this weapon had unique ballistic specifications, reflected in the detailed labeling.
Labels typically listed the type of bullet (such as m.E. – with iron core), production year, factory code, primer type, and propellant composition. This replica accurately reproduces those details, making it a valuable addition to late-war German gear.
Whether used for reenactment, film production, historical photography, or as part of a display, this box adds an authentic and visually compelling element to any period setup.
