A reproduction of a washing powder box for delicate laundry (Waschmittel für Feinwäsche), based on authentic packaging used during World War II. The design replicates period typography and details, including markings like “Verbraucherpreis 40 Pf.” (consumer price). The box is printed with waterproof ink and comes empty – no contents inside.
Such packaging was found in military laundries, field hospitals, officer quarters, and supply depots, where soldiers could wash items such as fine underwear, socks, shirts, or even parts of their uniforms made from wool or silk. Washing powder for delicate fabrics was part of standard rear-area supply.
The label specifies use for: wool, silk, rayon, and synthetic fibers – such as stockings, undergarments, shirts, fine uniform parts, etc., and notes that the product was to be returned only in exchange for an empty package. This reflects wartime economic restrictions and common recycling practices.
This item makes an excellent addition to reenactment scenes, military laundry setups, or historical displays and collections.
