This cardboard box is a replica of the so-called Führerpaket – a gift package issued once a year between 1942 and 1944 to German soldiers returning from the front, crossing the border on leave, or coming home due to injury. It was meant as a symbolic gesture of gratitude from Adolf Hitler to the Wehrmacht soldiers for their service and sacrifices.
The contents typically included chocolate, coffee, cigarettes, or other rare foodstuffs, intended to be given to the soldier’s family. The label reads “Ein Gruß des Führers an seine Verwundeten” – “A greeting from the Führer to his wounded” – underscoring the propaganda nature of the package to maintain morale both at the front and at home.
By 1944, due to logistical limitations, especially lack of space on trains, these packages were mostly replaced by food and monetary vouchers.
This replica is ideal for reenactment, museum displays, or film and theater props. The box comes empty – ready to be filled with period-correct contents or your own items.
